Specsavers’ spectacular super hero colouring competition

The competition will run from Friday, September 21 to Sunday, September 30 and is open to all children currently attending primary school.

The Ballymena store wants lots of children to enter the competition, where they will be asked to draw their ‘perfect superhero adventure’ to be in with the chance of winning a £50 HMV voucher.

Store director, Valerie Penney, said: “We are really looking forward to seeing the local children use their imagination and come up with some really fun ideas for the competition.

“We also hope it will help highlight to parents the importance of keeping a close eye on their children’s eyesight, as the earlier common childhood vision problems are discovered the better the chance of correcting them.

“We would recommend that children have their first eye examination at around three years old or as soon as they can match pictures or point at things. Nonetheless, we do also encourage parents to bring their children in store if they are younger than three years of age.”

Good eyesight is essential for a young child’s development, as uncorrected vision problems can often be mistaken for learning difficulties. Around 80% of everything a child learns is through their sight, so even a minor problem with their vision can result in setbacks at school.

New glasses are now available in the Marvel Heroes, Spiderman, The Simpsons, Star Wars and Specsavers own ranges.

All Specsavers glasses for those under 16 come fitted with SuperTough lenses as standard. Made from Trivex, the lenses are so strong that Specsavers guarantees they will never break, crack or chip.

All entries must be submitted directly to the Ballymena Specsavers store on or before September 30. Each entry must have the child’s full name, age, primary class, address and telephone number clearly marked. The winner will be notified shortly after the closing date.
