Specsaverscelebrates 20years in Ballymena

Specsavers in Ballymena is celebrating 20 years in business this month.

The store was originally opened in the Fairhill Shopping Centre in 1994 by directors Adrian Murdoch and Valerie Penney, both of whom still oversee the store’s operations today.

Mr Murdoch, Mrs Penney and store manager, Jackie Douglas, have all worked for Specsavers for 20 years, which has created a wealth of expert optical and hearcare knowledge at the Ballymena store.

The store has grown significantly over the last twenty years, having first opened its doors with six full-time members of staff.

The Ballymena store now boasts 28 employees, four optical testing rooms and a hearing service, which is open for testing every Tuesday, and is managed by audiologist Joanne Torrens. The store also offers free hearing screenings seven days a week.

Additionally, the store has an upper floor that is solely dedicated to providing customers with contact lens.

Adrian Murdoch, store director, said: “We are very proud to be celebrating 20 years in business and I am delighted that I have been here for all 20 of those years.

“It is a great achievement for the store, and without the continued support from our local community, we would not be able to celebrate such a significant milestone.”

To celebrate the business milestone, customers calling into the store during the birthday week (August 24-30), can enter into a draw to be in with a chance of winning one of 10 pairs of designer glasses from the £99-£125 range.
