Translink is providing special train services for music fans from Ballymena and Ballymoney travelling to Tennants Vital at Boucher Playing Fields in South Belfast.
With over 60,000 music fans expected at the Tennent’s Vital festival to see performances by Calvin Harris (Saturday, August 29) and The Script (Sunday, August 30). Translink and festival organisers MCD are encouraging people to travel by train to South Belfast including special late night return services to bring people safely home.
Translink’s Ciarán Rogan says using the special services will be a hassle-free way to get to and from the events:
“Tennents Vital is one of Northern Ireland’s flagship music events and using public transport is the smart move for a convenient, reliable and comfortable journey to and from the festival site.
“Balmoral Train Station is situated close to Boucher Playing Fields and we will enhance services throughout the day to bring people to the site. Coming home, special late night special rail services will run from Balmoral in both directions to Belfast with onward connections to Ballymena and Ballymoney*. These trains will operate following the concert from 10.45pm until 11.45pm subject to demand. Special return train tickets to Ballymena and Ballymoney are available to buy online and in selected stations priced £16 return.
On both days, a Tennent’s Vital busker will welcome early concert goers arriving at Balmoral station with tunes from artists who’ve previously played the gig.
“We hope everyone enjoys a great night out but would remind passengers that alcohol consumption and smoking are strictly not permitted on trains, coaches and buses. Anyone who appears to be intoxicated may be refused travel,” said Ciarán.
