1,574 drivers caught out on Frosses Road/Crankhill Road

The report by the Northern Ireland Road Safety Partnership showed that during 2015, a total of 1574 detections were made by mobile speed cameras.

This means that this stretch of road from Ballymena to Ballymoney had one of the highest amounts of speed camera detections in the whole of Northern Ireland.

The road also saw the highest recorded speed in 2015, with one driver caught driving at 99mph on the 70mph stretch. 184 drivers were caught out in March making it the busiest month in 2015 for detections on this road.

The overall total was actually fewer than the previous 12 month period in 2014 in which 1,807 drivers were caught speeding.

There are currently major roadworks taking place on the Frosses Road with reduced speed restrictions are in place.

Meanwhile, another local hotspot was the Cushendall Road with 144 drivers being caught out, while 142 were nabbed on Stiles Way, Antrim- a further 18 detections were made on the Galgorm Road.
