Ahoghill team ready for‘summer in the city’

YOUNG people from First Ahoghill and Brookside Presbyterian Churches are set to be part of a project called ‘Summer in the City.’

Organised by the Belfast City Mission, this exciting initiative will run from Sunday 28th July until Friday, 2 August.

‘Summer in the City’ is essentially a Christian outreach that will operate in north, south and east Belfast from a Belfast City Mission hall in Kimberly Street known as ‘The Bridge’.

Ahoghill man Stanley Kyle and his colleague, Willie Cowan are the ‘missioners’ there. Looking forward to what should be an excellent week, Stanley said: “We will be doing door-to-door work, street evangelism and children’s meetings. In addition to the young people from Ahoghill we will be joined by a team of ten from a Church in the United States. They will be assisted by others in the city, many of whom come from different parts of Asia and Africa.”

He added: “We are very excited; it is a great opportunity to reach out across the city this summer with the gospel. It’s wonderful to see young people from the local Churches connecting with the work in Belfast and also to see people from other nations coming and joining us on what will be a multinational team.”

Willie and Stanley are asking Christians in Ballymena to pray that God will bless this outreach and that through it many people will be drawn to Jesus Christ as their Saviour.

Stanley continued: “There can be spiritual apathy in the city but we need to be willing to go out, meet people, share the gospel, praying that God will work amongst the folk in the city. We have been excited to see people coming to faith in Jesus Christ and folk coming into the hall who know very little about the things of God.”
