Ahoghill YFC going from strength to strength

AFTER the success of the relaunch of Ahoghill Young Farmers’ Club, efforts continued to build the club through a series of club meetings and outings.

The club started into a hectic schedule full of excitement and enthusiasm for the summer ahead, showing they are back to stay.

It all kicked off with the annual church service in First Ahoghill Presbyterian Church conducted by the Rev Eddie Kirk.

The offering collected was £508.40 which the club donated to The Vision of Good Hope, Moldova.

Following the church service success Ahoghill YFC took part in the Jubilee parade in Ballymena, gaining an award for the Parade spirit due to the lively energy from the members on the float.

The next event in the calendar was the dairy stock judging where Gemma Andrews gained second place in the 18-21 age group and Richard McKeown followed in third place.

In the 14-16 age group for dairy stock judging Michelle Peticrew gained second place, followed by Catherine Watson in third place.

Following the dairy stock judging Ahoghill continued to rack up more awards as Rachel Gillespie gained first place in the Sheep stock judging in the 14-16 age group and Jonathan Watson gained second place in the Beef judging in the 18-21 age group.

Ahoghill Young Farmers would like to thank Ian McWhirter, David Duffin, Billy Graham, Hubert Kernohan, John Barkley, David Gillespie and Ian Small for the use of their farms and expertise.

The club had an excellent turnout at its first sports night exceeding expectations, and Ahoghill would like to thank everyone who came to support the event.

The football and assault course were a great success with Kells and Connor over 18 boys, Coleraine under 18 boys and Lisnamurrican girls winning in their age groups.

Ahoghill has had an action packed few months and will continue in the busy schedule to strive for success.
