Alderman wants ‘Seven Towers’ sign at Larne Road Roundabout

BALLYMENA South Councillor Martin Clarke is pushing for a civic centrepiece at Larne Road Roundabout welcoming people as they drive into the borough from East Antrim.

“The first thing people coming from Antrim and Belfast see as they arrive in Ballymena is the Seven Towers roundabout with its impressive stone wall and flower beds but those coming off the Larne Road have nothing,” he said.

Alderman Clarke has spied a triangular piece of tarmacked land in the vicinity which he feels would be the perfect spot for a permanent civic welcome piece featuring shrub beds and perhaps even a sculpture.

“I feel there should be something permanent there to let drivers know they’ve arrived in Ballymena and that they are welcome,” said Ald. Clarke.
