Antrim Care Home set to close

Antrim Care Home is one of seven privately owned facilities in Northern Ireland that are set to close.

The seven residential care homes are privately owned by the Four Seasons group, the UK’s largest private care home operator.

The company’s spokesman said the decision to close the seven homes is “difficult but unavoidable”.

In October, Four Seasons Health Care appointed advisers to carry out an emergency review of its finances.

The private equity owned firm has debt of more than £500m which attracts annual interest payments of around £50m.

In a statement, Four Seasons confirmed the seven homes set to close are Antrim Care Home, County Antrim; Victoria Park Care Home, Belfast; Stormont Care Home, Belfast; Garvagh Care Home, County Londonderry; Donaghcloney Care Home near Banbridge; Oakridge Care Home, Ballynahinch; Hamilton Court, Armagh.
