Arrests following burglaries

Detectives have made arrests following a number of burglaries in Ballymena over the past week.

In one incident a quantity of alchohol was stolen after entry was gained to a hotel in the Leighinmohr Avenue area sometime between 2.30pm on Wednesday, May 13, and 11.55pm on Thursday, May 14.

A man was arrested and has been bailed as the investigation progresses, a police spokesperson said.

In separate incident, sometime between 5pm on Thursday, May 14, and 7.45am on Friday, May 15, a hut on a building site in the Leighinmohr Crescent area of Ballymena was entered and an attempt was made to enter another hut. Extensive damage was caused.

On Friday, at around 2.55pm, a house was burgled in the Clarence Street area and a tv and laptop were stolen but were later recovered.

On Saturday, sometime between 3.30pm and 2pm on Sunday, May 17, police received a report of a burglary at a house in the Clarence Street area during which damage was caused.

A police spokesperson said two juveniles were arrested in relation to the Friday afternoon Clarence Street burglary. Both were later released pending a report to the Public Prosecution Service (PPS).

Detective Chief Inspector Mullen said: “I would appeal to anyone who has any information about these incidents to contact Detectives at Ballymena on the non-emergency number 101.
