Attempted burglary at Ballymena school

Detectives are investigating an attempted burglary at a school on Cambridge Avenue at the weekend.

Speaking about the incident which occurred on Sunday afternoon, Detective Chief Inspector Catherine Magee

said: “Computers were lined up inside the school, ready to be stolen, but the intruders were disturbed and made off with nothing.

“The burglary was reported to police after school staff responded to an alarm activation.”

She added: “If you witnessed suspicious activity in the Cambridge Avenue area, at around 4pm on Sunday, January 11, please call Ballymena detectives on the non-emergency number 101.

DCI Magee concluded: “Please also always report suspicious activity around schools during evenings, weekends or holiday periods to police immediately. We would much rather respond to something which turns out to be untoward rather than miss an opportunity to apprehend criminals.”
