Awards for All funding boost for local groups

Three local community groups are sharing in a windfall from the Big Lottery Fund's Awards for All programme.

Muck and More has received £10,000, Antrim District CAB has received £7.080, and Lough Neagh Partnership has received £10,000.

A total of £847,374 has been awarded to 101 groups across Northern Ireland in the latest roll out of funding under the Awards for All programme.

Muck and More has received a £10,000 grant to provide a mobile building at the allotments in the Muckamore area of Antrim so they can hold more events and activities.

Muck and More Allotment association is made up of 69 allotment holders who produce low cost good quality food, and promote healthy lifestyles.

Antrim District Citizens Advice Bureau Limited has been awarded £7,080 to cover costs for the amalgamation of the Antrim and Newtownabbey Bureau in line with local government reform.

The bureau provides free, confidential advice to people in the Antrim area.

Lough Neagh Partnership Ltd received £10,000 to hold a festival in Antrim Castle Gardens to showcase the eel fishing heritage of Lough Neagh.

Joanne McDowell, Big Lottery Fund NI Director, said: “The Big Lottery Fund’s NI Awards for All programme funds health, education, environment and community projects that help people bring about positive change in their lives, improve health and well-being, develop skills and create safer communities.

“The application process is simple and accessible and shall remain so, making it easy for applicants to successfully apply for small pots of funding that can have such a big impact on local communities and lives.”

Since June 2004 The Big Lottery Fund has awarded over £6.5billion to projects.
