Ballymena Car Fest raises £25,000 for MacMillan funds

NORTHERN Ireland’s largest car and truck show, which took place in June at Ballee playing fields for the third successive year has raised a huge sum for MacMillan Cancer Support and their palliative care unit at Antrim Area Hospital.

Thousands of spectators came from all over the province to see some of Ireland and UK’s top show cars and lorries on display, along with live action stunt driving by world renowned precision driving expert Paul Swift.

The top accolade of the show went to Mr. Richard Bingham from Moira, winning the Northern Ireland Concourse Car of the year and booked his spot at NEC Club Showcase Final 2011 in November.

The Car Fest team also took the task of Raffling a brand new Proton Savvy Car supplied by John Mulholland Motors to boost funds, which saw eight year old Katie Adams from Broughshane win the keys of the top prize.

The show raised £25,000 this year making a total of £51,000 donated over the past three years to MacMillan Cancer Supports Palliative Care Unit at Antrim Area Hospital.
