Ballymena confirmed for health finance jobs

SDLP Councillor Declan O’Loan has welcomed confirmation from the Health Minister Edwin Poots in the Assembly today that a substantial finance section of the Health Service Shared Services will be based at the Braid Valley site in Ballymena from March 2013.

Declan O’Loan said “This jobs boost is great news for Ballymena. It will bring a substantial number of well paid jobs to the area. These will assist the housing market and will lead to increased spend in local shops.”

“These jobs did not come by accident. Ballymena had to prove that it could offer the premises and staff that will deliver the service efficiently. The Council was heavily involved in making the case for Ballymena.”

“I am very supportive of the savings that can be made from shared services. The shared service model will in time yield savings of £17 million per annum which will be ploughed back into direct health care.
