Ballymena hoteliers buy landmark city property

THE Hill family, who own Galgorm Resort & Spa, are buying a six-storey landmark building in the centre of Belfast with a view to transforming it into a hotel, it has been revealed.

It is understood they are investing in the Scottish Mutual building in Donegall Square which was put up for sale by Nama.

The price has not been revealed.

The property, which has five shops on its ground floor, had an asking price of £1.75m.

The Hill family owned the nearby Ten Square Hotel in the city centre until 2008, when they sold it to a County Down developer.
