Ballymena Retirement Group break for summer

BALLYMENA Retirement group held their last monthly meeting on June 2, before the summer break.

Members are looking forward to their day out on June 9 and a busy tour has been arranged,

The first stop is Belfast City Hall for a guided tour of the newly refurbished premises and then on to the Ulster Museum for a tour after lunch.

The highlight will be an evening meal at Shandon Park Golf Club.

Guest speaker for the afternoon was Mrs Kathleen Carey.

She spoke about lighthouses in Ireland and even mentioned some in England, illustrating her talk with a visual presentation.

The lighthouses are of different shades and of course painted different colours, there was one all black but most were white or red.

Miss Sadie Crowe thanked her for such an informative and interesting talk and presented her with a small token of the group's appreciation.

The afternoon concluded with a cup of tea, home made scones and cake which the members thoroughly enjoyed.

The group's next meeting in Glenravel Fold will be on September 1 from 2.15pm to 4.15pm and you will be made most welcome.
