IF it’s a trip down memory lane that you crave then the place to be is Ballymena Showgrounds on Friday and Saturday, July 13 and 14.

There will be plenty of activities on offer to appeal to all of the family, including a craft marquee, country singing superstar Ritchie Remo, a performing horse, amusements for the young at heart and displays of traditional skills.

For those interested in the mechanical side of all things vintage, the Inishowen tractor build team will be on site on Saturday to amaze the crowds with their skill and speed as they rebuild a Ferguson tractor from parts inside 10 minutes.

A new venture this year is a vintage tractor road run from the Showgrounds on Friday night of the rally. Is is planned that the tractors will depart from the showgrounds before 6pm for a run to the nearby very scenic village of Broughshane. On returning to the rally site there will be a barbecue and dance in a marquee on site with music by Knoxville.

Each year the organising committee aims to feature one specific brand of machinery at the rally. This year it is the turn of the Ford and Fordsons to take centre stage.

It is hoped that there will be a terrific show of these machines from the early 20th century until the 1970’s.

The steam fair is an event to appeal to all of the family, drawing exhibitors and spectators from far and wide. So make a date in your diary for July 13 and 14.
