Ballymoney Road flat fire '˜deliberate'

A fire at a flat in Ballymena is thought to have been started deliberately.

The fire broke out on the ground floor flat in the Ballymoney Road area in the early hours of Friday.

No-one was in the property at the time.

Fire crews from Ballymena and Antrim attended and dealt with the incident using hosereel jets and breathing apparatus.

A spokesperson said: “No one at the scene required medical attention.

Northern Ireland Fire and Rescue Service finished at the scene and the fire is being treated as deliberate.”

A spokesperson for the PSNI said: “Police enquiries are continuing into the circumstances surrounding this incident”.
