Banned driver used car to go to dump

A JUDGE has described a disqualified driver who used his car to take rubbish to the dump for a friend as "very foolish".

Edward Richard Browne (37), of Deramore Park, was given an 18-month conditional discharge and banned from driving for three months at Ballymena Magistrates Court after admitting charges of driving while disqualified and without insurance.

The court was told that Browne came to police attention at Waveney Road on March 12.

A defence solicitor said Browne had been running rubbish to the dump as a favour for a friend. The car has since been crushed by the authorities, he added.

Accepting that it was a one-off offence, District Judge Des Perry said: “There are many, many people who continue driving while they are disqualified. I don’t think you are one of them - I hope I’m right.”
