Be part of a unique Olympic celebration at The Braid
THE Braid will be the setting on Wednesday evening, March 28, for the unveiling of a unique piece of art which will form part of parliament’s Cultural Olympic celebration.
Students from all of the post primary schools in the borough are currently playing a part in its creation helped by the Creative Peace Mural society from Canada.
They are working with local students to produce a 15’ x 7’ textile mural which will have the Olympic values and themes as its inspiration.
The project has been granted the presigious Truce Inspire Mark by the London Olympics Committee and when complete it will join other murals from across the world for a major exhibition in Westminster Hall in London which will form part of parliament’s Cultural Olympic celebration.
Mural workshops are taking place most days at present in the Learning Zone at the Braid and members of the public are very welcome to call in and leave their handprint for inclusion in this unique piece of art.
The public are also welcome to attend the celebratory event on March 28 at which the finished product will be unveiled. Admission to this event is free of charge and tickets can be obtained from the Braid Box Office.
