Did you think your football career was all over? Well it’s not now as a new football craze for over 50s has arrived in Ballymena.
Aimed at those looking to get active, Walking Football is a slower version of the beautiful game allowing the chance for many men to send their football aspirations into extra time.
Walking Football is designed to help the over 50s off the sidelines, off the bench and back into football and exercise.
There is no running and no slide tackles but the game is a great way to keep fit, learn skills and have fun and socialize at the same time.
It is held every Monday evening from May 11, at Ballymena Showgrounds on the Astroturf from 5.30-7pm and costs just £2 per session.
Thousands of people take part in the game across the UK and it is set to get lots of support in Ballymena.
A free health check will also be on offer for all those who take part thanks to support from Cancer Focus NI.
The pilot project was developed by Mid and East Antrim Agewell Partnership (MEAAP) and Mid and East Antrim Borough Council Active Communities Team thanks to funding and support from Heart Research UK and Big Lottery Fund.
