Beware phone scammers - police warn

The warning has been issued following reports on Tuesday, January 26, that residents in Ballymena had received telephone calls from a man who claims to have money that is to be returned to the person’s account.

The caller then asks for details of the householder’s bank and account numbers, which he claims are needed to return the money.

Police say that the calls are bogus and have advised anyone who becomes concerned about the content of any telephone call to terminate the call and to contact their local police.
