Biker Victor Gilmore was'Tullygarley born & bred'

HEARTFELT tributes have been paid to tragic Ballymena motorcyclist Victor Gilmore by councillors at the outset of their monthly meeting.

Mr Gilmore, who was a well known motorcycle racer, was killed following a crash at the Killalane Road Races in North Dublin in September.

Sympathy was expressed to his family circle on behalf of Ballymena Borough Council by the Mayor, Cllr Maurice Mills, in Ardeevin, last Monday night.

Cllr Beth Adger said she knew the family well and had known Mr Gilmore “since he was a wee boy”.

She described him as “a character - he had a great personality and always had a smile”.

“He was a much loved young man and he will be sadly missed by all who knew him,” she said.

Fellow Councillor, John Carson, said he, too, had known Mr Gilmore since childhoold.

“He was a Tullygarley lad born and bred,” said Cllr Carson.

“This is a sad loss for his mother and father and our community in Tullygarley. He was a young man his mother and father could be proud of - a model son”.
