Bikesafe revs into Michelin on March 24

POLICE will be holding a Bikesafe event at the Michelin Athletic Club on Saturday, March 24, from 10am-4pm.

Throughout the event, highly trained police bikers will be offering free assessed ‘ride outs’ to motorcyclists who can either pre-book a session, or simply turn up for an appointment.

During the assessed rides, police motorcyclists will assess bikers’ skills and then offer professional advice on how to improve their riding abilities and get even more enjoyment out of their machines.

Constable Syd Henry said: “Bikesafe offers an ideal opportunity to raise the profile of motorcycle safety. Northern Ireland has a big biking culture and thousands of people regularly enjoy the thrill and freedom that a motorbike, scooter or moped offers. We want them to be able to continue that safely.

“Bikesafe is aimed at all bikers ranging from the novice to the experienced cyclist. Our advanced motorcyclists give advice on the proper maintenance and handling of machines and in addition, raise safety awareness by allowing motorcyclists to draw on the experience of experts.

“The message is simple: Alert Today... Alive Tomorrow.”

Applications can be made on-line at www.bikesafe.co.uk.

Assessments not booked will be done on first come first served basis or booked for another date. For further information on this event please contact Constable Syd Henry at Ballymena Police Station on 0845 600 8000.
