Brakes to be put on boy racers at Link Road car park

ACTION is to be taken to curb the anti-social activities of boy racers at the Larne Road Link car park, North Antrim UUP MLA Robin Swann has revealed.

Mr Swann organised a meeting at the site with relevant agencies last Wednesday in response to ongoing concerns voiced to him by members of the public over boy racers.

He said: “A number of constituents were concerned about the growing anti-social problem of boy racers frequenting the Larne Road Link car park which was causing a major issue with noise.

“This behaviour is totally unacceptable and it must be firmly stamped out by the police and courts to ensure that it does not spread to other regions – especially isolated rural areas – of the constituency.

“I organised a meeting with the PSNI, Ballymena Borough Council, the Roads Service as well as local management from KFC and the IMC Cinema to discuss preventative methods that can be enforced to ensure this issue can be resolved.

“Following the meeting it was agreed that the car park and surrounding area would become a proposed PSNI and community target for the next three months,” said Mr Swann who praised the PSNI and major stakeholders for their attendance at the meeting.
