Broughshane backing local traders

THE community of Broughshane and the wider Braid Valley has united to encourage residents to support their traders by “buying a little more locally”.

Despite the economic downturn, Broughshane is still buzzing, the local businesses and service providers in the village now employ 300 people - a just reward for the on-going community efforts in attracting new residents and new businesses to the village over the last 15 years.

The community and voluntary organisations have united to encourage their members, friends and families to buy “a little more” locally in support of local businesses and service providers.

Lexie Scott, Chairman of Broughshane and District Community Association said: “In the current economic climate where there are numerous shop closures and where services have been withdrawn from many rural areas we need to value the businesses and service providers we have on our doorstep. That’s why we have united to encourage everyone in our community to buy “a little more” locally”.

Sandy Wilson, Chairman of Broughshane Improvement Committee said: “Just as our environmental work has regenerated the environment in the village, which has helped attract more businesses and visitors to the village, our community now realise that they can make a valuable contribution to the local economy.

“We encourage them to buy “a little more” locally as it will contribute to the sustainability of hundreds of jobs of our friends and neighbours from the village and surrounding area”.
