BT manager wins award at NRC

The Institute of Leadership and Management (ILM) diploma in Leadership and Management is designed to be more practical, relevant and enjoyable.

And it seems to have worked for James Burleigh as he was presented with the Wrightbus sponsored award for the best student with the highest overall marks on the ILM leadership and management diploma.

James, a manager in British Telecom, said: “The course is very well structured and the support offered by the lecturers is second to none. It has helped me greatly within my role as a team manager for BT, looking at the problem solving, dealing with organisational change, time management, and managing customer service. I have thoroughly enjoyed this return to education and I could highly recommend the course.”

Fred Greer, Learning and Development Manager at Wrightbus emphasised the benefits of the training offered by NRC.

He said: “Training forms a key element of the Wrightbus business strategy. We would recommend our experience of the ILM management courses at NRC to other companies. ILM training has helped some of our employees advance their careers and in turn helped us to improve business capabilities.”

The NRC is the only college in Northern Ireland offering these diplomas in Management. The course coordinator, Jim Brown, added: “In a survey this year, approximately 20% of students completing the ILM Level 3 and 5 Diploma had been promoted while attending the course. Also, the majority of the total student group (85%) believed that the ILM course had given them better skills and more confidence.”
