It is believed that 10 IDEAL Logic Combi 30 gas boilers were stolen during the burglary in the Queen Street area sometime between the evening of Monday, April 29, and the morning of Tuesday, April 30.

The boilers had been fitted but were forcibly removed from the partially finished apartments. It is suspected by police that the boilers were carried from the apartments, across the railway line on to Railway Street, where it is likely they were collected by a vehicle.

Police believe that the boilers could now be offered for sale on resale websites or in ad pages.

A spokesperson said: “It is crucial that people are aware of the danger of buying these stolen boilers. All gas boilers should be installed by a Gas Safe registered engineer and experts advise that DIY boiler installation should never be attempted.

“Stolen items are often offered at knocked down prices, but the consequences of attempting to install a boiler that may have been damaged or using an unregistered engineer are potentially deadly.”

The police would like anyone who knows anything about the theft or has saw the boilers for sale to contact Ballymena detectives on 0845 600 8000.
