Burglary suspects arrested following high-speed pursuit

Three burglary suspects were arrested in Lisburn yesterday (Wednesday) following a high-speed pursuit involving specially trained police officers.

The men were detained after police stopped a blue Audi car suspected to have been used in three burglaries in the Antrim area on March 22.

A post on the PSNI Lisburn Facebook page explains: “The vehicle was spotted travelling at high speed by Police in the direction of Lisburn and pursued by a specially trained call sign. The vehicle stopped briefly and one passenger made off. The vehicle then once again made off at speed into Lisburn where it eventually stopped and two males were detained after attempting to escape and arrests soon followed for a number of offences.”

It continues: “Despite an extensive search by several call signs including Dog Section the third male was not located. A couple of hours later, Lisburn Police received a report from a member of the public of a male acting suspiciously in their garden who matched the description of the passenger.

“Thanks to this call, Police were able to locate this male who was also subsequently arrested and is currently helping us with our enquiries in custody.”

The post concludes with a reminder to members of the public of the importance of calling in any suspicious activity.
