Cambridge House successful in funding bidfor 'Sharing Education' programme

CAMBRIDGE HOUSE grammar has received news that it has been successful in a bid for funding for an education programme.

The school applied for the Sharing Education Programme (SEP 2)-which promotes cross community teaching agreements- has been successful.

On the evening of Thursday January 21 received the news that the school were recommended for funding and support, this followed a meeting of The SEP Independent Governing Panel earlier that day.

Mr Totten, Chairman of the Board of Governors explained the bid, he said: “The bid has three strands which at its core, involves cross community collaborative teaching arrangements with other primary and post primary schools in the greater Ballymena Area. Strand 1 involves shared teaching of examination classes at Key Stage 4 and Key Stage 5 (Sixth Form).

“Strand 2 involves developing Personal Capacity in a Diverse Cultural and Economic Environment (Citizenship and Enterprise). Strand 3 involves the enhancement of STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics) subjects in primary schools using Student Mentors within a cross community framework. The entire bid centres around funding of 250,000 which is earmarked for the facilitation of the project.”

He added: “This is an outstanding achievement and the Board of Governors wishes to pay tribute to the work of the main driver, Mr Dennis (Senior Leadership Team) and Mr Bailie (co-ordinator and facilitator), Mrs. Lisk, Principal and a range of middle leaders within the school.

My thanks go also to: St Patrick’s College, St. Louis Grammar School, Ballee Community High School, Cullybackey High School, Our Lady of Lourdes, Ballymoney, Mount St Michael Primary School, Randalstown and Randalstown Central Primary School. We hope that this can open up the pathway for further collaborative arrangements with many of our neighbouring schools and feeder primary schools.”
