Detectives are appealing for information following the report of car hijacking in the Ballee Road West area of Ballymena on Sunday, April 19.

Detective Constable Chris Campbell said the incident happened sometime between 11.30pm and 11.45pm.

He said: “As the driver of a Suzuki Vitara approached a mini roundabout on the Ballee Road West, a BMW, which had been driving in front of him, stopped and two males got out. They demanded that the male driver of the Suzuki Vitara hand over his vehicle to them, which he did. The men then made off in the vehicle.”

The driver of the car which was stolen was not injured during this incident, the Detective Constable said.

He appealed to anyone who may have witnessed the incident or who has any information to contact Detectives at Ballymena on the non-emergency number 101.
