Car was followed prior to vicious assault - police seek witnesses

INFORMATION about an assault on a teenage car passenger is being sought by police.

The incident happened at an industrial estate on Saturday evening, May 15, when the 19-year-od victim was a passenger in a car driven by a friend.

They pulled on to the Woodside Road from the Crebilly Road at 7pm on that date when a red Peugeot 308, which was driven by a woman, tailgated them.

They pulled into OMCO industrial estate and the Peugeot boxed them in. A man got out of the front passenger seat and approached the victim’s car before punching him through the passenger window and dragging him out.

The assailant was of a muscular build and about 6ft tall. He was in his early 30s, with short shaved fair hair and was wearing an all grey tracksuit.

The victim sustained two black eyes, a cut below his right lower eyelid, a graze above his right upper eyelid, and grazes to both hands.

Anyone who saw the incident, or can help identify the assailant, is asked to contact Ballymena police.
