Carfest makes ‘Wish Come True’ for Ethan

CarFest may be every motor-mad person’s dream day out but the 2015 event literally made one little local boy’s dreams come true.

The organisers of Carfest, which this year attracted some 10,000 people, made six-year-old Ethan McClean VIP for the day as their very first ‘Make A Wish Come True’ award recipient.

Ethan, the son of Andy and Yvette McClean, was diagnosed at 18 months with a rare form of Muscular Dystrophy called Duchene Muscular Dystropy for which there is, at present, no treatment or cure.

His parents point out, however, that Ethan enjoys life to the max, is always chatty and full of enthusiasm for what is around him and particularly loves fast cars and bikes.

Ethan’s dad, Andy thanked the Ballymena Carfest Team for giving their little boy a day to truly remember on June 13.

He said: “From being picked up from home in a Maserati with the team from Bespoke Autocars to drifting in the Green Monster with Danielle Murphy, being on stage with stars such as Eddie Hall, Mattie Griffin and Boxcar Brian and helping Paul, Timothy Gaston and the team officially open the event made one six-year-old feel very special.

“To round off his day he made the draw and presented the keys to the winner of the car raffle,” said Andy who added that Ethan was “still buzzing” the next day.

“He is surrounded by not only the memories but the gifts he was being given at any opportunity by the organisers and their guests. Ethan, Amie, Yvette and I would like to take this opportunity to thank from the bottom of our hearts the complete team at Carfest in particular Paul Dempster who put Ethan’s name forward so this could all happen” said Andy.
