THE fantastic tatt. talents of Cullybackey-based tattooist Craig Gilmore have been confirmed as award-winning at the highest provincial level.

For Craig, the man behind chillipeppertattoos in the village, was announced winner of the ‘Best Old Skool Award’ at the recent Northern Ireland Tattoo Convention in Belfast’s Ulster Hall.

Over 40 of the best tattoo artists from throughout Ireland and beyond were in competition for various categories at the packed two-day event.

However, in the Old Skool competition, Craig wowed the judges with his tattoo of a pin-up girl based on a Dawnii design which he created live on the day with a simultaneous broadcast of his work shown around the Ulster Hall on big screen tvs for all to see.

“Craig was over the moon when his name was called out as the winner - he was totally shocked,” said his wife, Sharon.

“This was only the second convention that he has worked at and usually you have to work at loads of them before you can expect to win”.

Craig was presented with a hand-cut City of Derry crystal trophy which now has pride of place in the Gilmore home.

“Winning this award just underlines the quality and creativity of Craig’s work and is official recognition of how talented he is,” said Sharon.

And she pointed out that new and existing clients of chillipeppertattoos can have a full-day sit with Craig - that’s from 10am-5.30pm any weekday, for just £270.

Gift vouchers can also be bought at the Cullybackey premises which are open Mondays, Tuesdays and Wednesdays from 10am to 5.30pm, 10am to 9pm on Thursdays and Fridays, and 10am to 1pm on Saturdays.
