Chief Inspector John Allen explained that there have been incidents in the past where opportunistic thieves have targeted cars at church or chapel car parks and at cemeteries.

“Our advice would be to ensure you lock your vehicle and don’t leave valuables in plain sight, including handbags, sunglasses or loose change,” Chief Insp. Allen said.

He added: “No one likes the thought of criminals using places of worship to commit crime but it can happen so make sure you don’t become a victim by following our advice.”
