Civic Centre to be lit up red for Somme centenary

Antrim Civic Centre will be lit up red on Friday to mark the Centenary anniversary of The Battle of The Somme.

Mayor of Antrim and Newtownabbey, Councillor John Scott launches the Somme light up.

Antrim and Newtownabbey Borough Council have a full line up of commemorative events planned from Friday, July 1 running until Thursday, November 18.

The programme includes exhibitions, theatre productions and a special centenary concert which will take place at Theatre at The Mill on Thursday, October 20.

Mayor of Antrim and Newtownabbey, Councillor John Scott said: “I look forward to supporting and attending as many of these events as possible and I hope the people of our Borough will engage with our commemorative programme.”
