Antrim Civic Centre will be lit up blue later today to help raise awareness of ME in Northern Ireland.
Myalgic Encephalomyelitis (ME) is characterised by a range of neurological symptoms and signs, muscle pain with intense physical or mental exhaustion, post exertional malaise, relapses and specific cognitive disabilities.
In Northern Ireland alone there are approximately 7,000 sufferers with ME of which 25% are severely affected, bedbound/housebound.
Mayor of Antrim and Newtownabbey, Councillor Thomas Hogg said: “With approximately 7,000 sufferers in Northern Ireland, I would encourage people to get behind this campaign and show their support.”
ME Support Northern Ireland provides information, support and practical advice for children, families and carers affected by ME.
Their aim is to improve the lives of those children, young people and adults affected by this devastating neurological illness.
