The team is poised and ready for success after receiving their uniforms from sponsor, Glenfarm Holdings, the Glenavy-based agricultural co-operative and NI’s leading fallen stock collection company.

Wishing them every luck In advance of their competition at the Royal Welsh Show, Rodney Hume, Commercial Director of Glenfarm said: “After following the qualifying sessions at the Balmoral Show, it is clear there is a wealth of sheep shearing talent and expertise in the province. Glenfarm wishes each member of the team every success and has no doubt they’ll do their very best to ensure Northern Ireland earns its place amongst the world’s shearing elite.”

The NI team will be competing against the top ranking shearers from countries such as Australia, New Zealand and South Africa, as well as those representing other regions of the British Isles.

This will be John Buchanan’s first year to compete at the World Championships, while his colleague, Kieran McCullough, came 3rd at the 2008 event in Norway.

Gerard Kelly, team manager, from Ballymena added: “We very much appreciate Glenfarm’s financial support for the team – and for their ongoing sponsorship over many years. We would urge NI’s sheep sector to show their support in return by utilising the company’s effective and efficient fallen stock collection service when the need arises.”
