Concert will support Bushfire Ministries

A special concert in support of Bush Fire Ministries. (B.F.M) will be held in Glenwherry Presbyterian Church Hall on Saturday, November 24, at 8pm.

Bush Fire Ministries was set up by a local business man and is based near Kitwe in Zambia where a 220 acre derelict farm was bought and five houses, a school and a church were built. A spokesperson for Bush Fire Ministries said: “We cater for about 60 orphans, ranging in age from eight to 20 years old. Some of these children had HIV/AIDS; Bushfire’s work gives them a chance to be schooled and have a Christian up-bringing.

“About 120 children attend the school some walking for miles from near-by villages. This year Bush Fire School gained the best exam results in the copper built area.”

The spokesperson went on to say: “As we get no government support we financially support every child at grammar school and any who make it to college. All money raised goes 100% to meet the needs at the orphanage as we have no overheads. All money is raised by fund raising events such as concerts, fireside quizzes, cake sales, Chinese nights, dinners and auctions. We have some very faithful sponsors and some very faithful people who give on a regular basis. £20 a month will sponsor a child and we would appreciate and encourage anyone who would be interested in doing so.” Money raised at the concert will go towards the daily running of the orphanage - it takes about £3000 a month to meet all needs.

While saying thank-you to everyone who has supported their ministry over the years, the Bush Fire spokesperson also said: “We praise God that B.F.M is prospering to-day as earlier this year in May we were blessed by having a team of 13 travel to the orphanage and some of them got involved in doing a Holiday Bible Club with the children and again in September a team of 36 travelled to Zambia an carried on with the children’s work.

“As a result of both teams being there, another house was built, the school walls were plastered and painted, all roofs painted and floors tiled. What a transformation. If it is possible slides will be shown on the night of the concert.”

Kells man, Jonathan Reid is set to compere the evening which will feature the Emanuel Gospel Singers, Muriel & Rachel Ramsey, Robert Mitchell, Mathew Warwick & friends.
