‘Controls’ after dog attack

This requires their dog to be kept leashed in public and otherwise to be confined to a shed, building or enclosure from which it cannot escape.

When the matter came before a Council committee on Thursday night, Councillors endorsed the Control Conditions.

They also agreed that the person in charge of the dog at the time of the attack, who it was pointed out had cooperated fully with the investigation, should receive a formal caution and that legal proceedings be instigated should they fail to accept it.

They did so after hearing that on October 8, a resident reported that while she was in her garden with family members, dogs from a neighbouring property came through the hedge and attacked her dog which subsequently required veterinary treatment for lacerations to the back of its ear.
