Police investigating what they have termed as a ‘sectarian hate crime’ earlier in December have renewed their appeal for information about the incident.
A suspected assault which left a man with injuries to his head took place on the evening of Thursday 11 December.
Constable Kelly Kirk said; “The assault happened in Broughshane Street, with one man thought to have been attacked by a number of others.
“We are investigating this as a sectarian hate crime. The injured man was taken to hospital with head injuries.”
Police arrested one man on suspicion of assault a short time later.
Constable Kirk added: “However, it is still important that any witnesses come forward to assist the investigation and help us gain a clear understanding of the nature of the incident.
“Please call police on the non-emergency number 101 if you saw what happened on Broughshane Street at around 7:15pm on Thursday 11 December.”
