Drugs seized in Loughguile

Police have seized a quantity of class A and class B drugs following a search of open land in the Altanhinch Road area of Loughguile.

The drugs were taken away by police for examination but are believed to be an estimated £5,000 worth of cannabis resin and £10,000 of amphetamines.

Detective Chief Inspector Bob Blemmings: “The drugs find comes as a disruption to dealers whose sole motivation is to make money at the expense of the health and well being of other people. Tackling drug dealers is a priority for police and disrupting dealers in any way is a positive. We are continually running proactive operations against drug dealers but in this instance the drugs find was down to good fortune and assistance from the community.

DCI Blemmings continued: “Community support in tackling drugs dealers is vital and I ask the public to continue to assist us by reporting anything they know or suspect in relating to drug dealing”.

Police would ask anyone with any information on the illegal use of drugs to contact them on 0845 600 8000. Or, if someone would prefer to provide information without giving their details, they can contact the independent charity Crimestoppers and speak to them anonymously on 0800 555 111.
