Elderly man beaten by intruder near Ballymena
Detectives are investigating an aggravated burglary on an 81 year old man in the Killyless Road / Loan Road area of Ballymena last night (Thurs 22 March).
At around 10:45pm the man awoke to find a masked man standing over him. The intruder struck the man about the head a number of times and demanded money. The elderly man was later taken to hospital for treatment to his injuries and was detained overnight. The injuries are not believed to be life threatening. It is believed the intruder made off from the premises empty-handed.
