Rural dwellers are urged to sign up to Text Alert Scheme

FARMERS and other people living in rural Ballymena are being encouraged by local police to sign up to a new scheme which could help improve their security.

It allows police to contact members of the community who have registered their mobile phone number.

Approved registered users will receive live text alerts (SMS) of relevant incidents in their area, for example, the description of a stolen trailer, or, details of a suspect vehicle believed to have been involved in a theft.
