Cullybackey brick incident “disgraceful” - O’Loan

Ballymena SDLP Councillor Declan O’Loan has described an incident in which a boy of 12 was hit in the head by a brick while asleep in his Cullybackey home as “disgraceful”.

A number of other windows in the house in the Kilmakevit Square area of the village were also smashed during the incident which occurred in the early hours of Thursday morning.

A motive has yet to be established and police are appealing to anyone who witnessed the incident or anyone who saw anyone in the area of Kilmakevit Square to contact them at Ballymena Police Station on 0845 600 8000.

Cllr O’Loan, who urged anyone with information to come forward, said: “This was a disgraceful incident and a very traumatic one for the family. I extend my sympathy to them. The young boy could have been even more seriously injured. I hope that those responsible will be brought to book quickly.”
