Cullybackey High present £800 cheque to Children’s Hospice

CULLYBACKEY High School has a close link with the Northern Ireland Children’s Hospice thanks to one of its nurses being the twin sister of a member of the teaching staff.

This link may have been instrumental in the School Council nominating the hospica as the target for its fund raising efforts during the Christmas Period of 2011.

A Christmas Card delivery service was organised and a stall was set up in the entrance hall to sell Christmas cards, decorations, pens, globes and other Christmas ‘goodies’.

Teaching staff also got involved by making donations to the Children’s Hospice in lieu of sending Christmas cards to each other. These and other events raised the sum of £800 which was presented to Miss Valerie Peacock who had come to school to share some of her experiences and introduce, through DVD, some of the young people served by the Hospice to the students.
