Cullybackey Park & Ride a ‘High Priority’

The DUP Assemblyman told The Ballymena Times he has received written confirmation that there is an outline scheme in place for around 90 spaces.

Mr McIlveen said: “For our outlying villages, accessibility to services is one of the most important issues facing local residents.

“These local hubs are very close knit communities and fantastic places to live. However, for many, the one big drawback can be the ability to easily access transport.

“I have lobbied Translink extensively on this issue since I was elected, in response to repeated queries from constituents.

“I am delighted that Translink have given this commitment to proceed with the Park and Ride and I have no doubt it will be a very positive addition to Cullybackey,” said Mr McIlveen.

“That said, due to pre-existing budgetary constraints and other high-priority lines, officials estimate completion may not be until 2014-15. I can assure all those in the area that I will closely monitor this progress, to ensure this deadline is at the very least met.”

A Translink spokesperson said: “We intend to deliver a 90-space park and ride facility in Cullbackey during the 2014/15 financial year, subject to funding and planning approval and land acquisition.”
