Diamond Jubilee Council award goes to Caroline

BALLYMENA Academy A Level student Caroline Richards, has been awarded the senior Diamond Jubilee Arts bursary for 2012.

The purpose of the bursary is to assist young people in the Borough Council Area by providing financial support in the performing arts.

Caroline, plays the violin and piano, and recently gained the Associateship of the London College of Music for violin performance (ALCM).

She also holds a Diploma from the London College of Music for piano performance. The 18 year old who lives near Broughshane, is planning to use the bursary to fund several orchestral trips over the summer.

Caroline is the Leader of the NEELB Senior Orchestra, which is touring France in August.

She is a member of the Ulster Youth Orchestra, which will be playing at the Titanic Quarter as part of the NEST Project performing on July 21 and in the Royal Albert Hall with the Ulster Orchestra on August 4 as part of the BBC Proms season.

Caroline hopes to study music at Trinity College Dublin in the autumn.
