The Doury Road estate has been given a ‘spring clean’ - even if it is late summer!

Staff from the Environmental Services Department of Ballymena Borough Council, members of Doury Road Residents Association, High Kirk Church youth volunteers (SPARK), staff from McDonalds and local residents took part in the Big Spring Clean 2014, the annual initiative supported by Keep Northern Ireland Beautiful.

The main objective is to encourage and support local residents in carrying out a litter clean-up within their immediate neighbourhood, whilst at the same time raising awareness of items which are eligible for recycling.

Spring Clean-Up events are planned throughout the year and any organisation that wishes to participate in cleaning up their area can contact Environmental Health on 028 2566 0373 for further guidance. In addition to normal bin collection service, Ballymena Borough Council offer a free bulky collection service for collection of bulky waste items, i.e. fridges, freezers, cookers etc. The contact telephone number for this service is 028 2564 8096.
