Elderly ‘betrayed’ says DUP’s Henry

‘A despicable act of betraya1’ - these are the scathing words used by DUP councillor, Billy Henry, to express his personal feelings on the Pinewood closure issue.

Cllr. Henry was the first local member of the DUP to issue a statement on the situation at the much-loved but axe-threatened Ballymena home.

“What an insult,” said Cllr. Henry. “I have always been of the opinion that transforming anything was an act of re-vamping or making better. This is not the case when the care of the elderly is undermined.

“I have been inundated with e-mails and texts from concerned families who are now at their wits’ end in the wake of this announcement. I am of the opinion that this is a despicable act of betrayal of these elderly people - the very same people who have spent all their lives working and paying taxes and national insurance contrbutions. Some of these people gave service to their country during the time of the troubles with the aim of securing a better future for all. This is nothing short of disgraceful.

“Those who have made this decision should sit back in their fancy offices and consider their position,” he said.
