Eugene is 'Outstanding New Teacher of the Year'

EUGENE Mullan of St Brigid's Primary School, Ballymena, has won the Specialist Schools and Academies Trust (SSAT) Outstanding New Teacher of the Year title at the Northern Ireland Teaching Awards.

Speaking following his win at the event, last week, chief executive of the sponsors of the Outstanding New Teacher of the Year Award, Elizabeth Reid of the Specialist Schools and Academies Trust described Eugene as “a talented teacher whose hard work, enthusiasm and commitment are an inspiration to his students and colleagues”.

She added: “These awards highlight the excellent practice that is taking place across Northern Ireland and show us that through nurturing the talent of new teachers we are developing the great school leaders of the future”.

Two further teachers received distinctions as Outstanding New Teachers: Emma Murray, Edwards Primary School, Castlederg, and Julie Lee, Grosvenor Grammar School, Belfast

Elizabeth said: “All of the finalists are outstanding new teachers and every day they are making a positive difference to the lives of young people.

“We are delighted to sponsor these awards for the third year and to celebrate the contribution made by these new teachers who are an inspiration to others starting out in the profession”.
